ASSIGNMENT 2 Well after many days of thought i think i have finally came up with the idea of a high rise building in the country. I chose this because so much of the beauty and wildlife of the country has been or is beginning to be taken over, by retailers. I have also toggled with a few other ideas but i find myself coming back to this. Who knows i still may change my mind. The influence for this project came from Josh Keyes. I plan to use most images from the public domain so that i am not violating any copyright laws.

Summary of Copyrights and Art

Basically what the article is saying, is that if you are going to use someone elses material whether it is art in the form of photgraphy, paintings, drawings etc, and incorporate it into something of your own there are procedures you should follow. The safest way to follow the procedure is to check the works first and see if their is a copyright by going on the U.S. Copyright Office website. There are also three places you can choose items from 1)freeware,2)copyright material or 3)the public domain but you may still have to pay a fee to use them. The fees are there to make sure that the artist, or photographer recieves monies for their personal benefit of you using thier piece. Basically be careful in taking the credit of someone elses work and making it your own, or you could find yourself in legal matters, or having fines to pay in the end.

Darker with the Day

As i entered the gallery the first thing i noticed was the larger window that appeared as though i was viewing into the window but could see nothing but darkness. As i turned the corner i seen another window appearing to be the same size as though i was now looking out of it into light. I turned and there were three windows of the same size with the same table but the objects and time of day seem to have changed through the sequence of paintings. As well as the view of the table from different angles, the chair being placed or used at different sides of the table or the chairs not being used at all. All three paintings consisted of a tsble, and two chairs with one painting containing also a recorder, candlestick and quart of juice, this particular painting had the effect on me that it was possibly in the early morning. The second table consisted of the same objects and added also a gallon of milk, salt shaker and soda and the time of day appeared to be mid-day. The third and final painting was again of the same table, now missing the gallon of milk and salt shaker and appeared to be in the evening possibly. All three paintings used the colors of gray, black and white and seemed to be very similar. Subtle changes such as the chair position, objects differing on the table, and position of chair, and the candle being slightly burned being the differences i seen. I am still not sure if it was about the table, the views from different angles of the table, about elapsed time in a day, or all of the above. I did however like them with a favorite being the larger windows and just the simplicity of them.

Remembrance

Assignment 1

I came up with this because on January 23, 2012 I lost my father to Pancreatic Cancer. I know they say the pain gets easier but at this point I am not so sure that's true. This is a compilation of the thoughts that pass through me about him on a daily basis. Everything in these photos had meaning to him and now they have an even bigger meaning to me!
I chose to leave the things a little more visible and also could have put many more photos in there too.
I chose to leave them more visual to represent them slowly fading away!
I hope you enjoy and welcome any advice you may or may not have.

Christiane Paul Digital Art

I picked the following Artists from the reading we were assigned:

Nancy Burson: I found it to be very interesting how she takes one image and "morphs it with another. I especially liked WarHead 1
Joseph Scheer: I found it interesting how he actually creates the images, with a favorite of mine being the luna moth images.
Oliver Wasow:   I actually like too many of his images to pick a favorite or even a few of them. I love vibrant landscape photos that are exactly as the article says " a believable reality that might exist in an unknown place"
